When I decided to take a break from Facebook, it was because I thought that could help become productive in my daily life. I didn’t know that my mood as well as physical body would change as well from this action. I woke up happier, left my bed earlier and wasn’t restless. I was focus. I’m not exaggerating or trying to persuade anyone to believe that Facebook or social media has a negative impact on the mental or physical state. I just realized that it was having a negative impact on my well being.
I was ingesting information and regurgitating my own. I was a roller coaster of emotions and still felt numb. I had to ask myself, what am I benefiting from being on Facebook? The answer didn’t shock me, nothing. I was not benefiting from Facebook. The next question was pretty simple, then why are you wasting your time on there? I am not saying Facebook is a time waster. It’s just a time waster for me. After a day without Facebook, I feel clear headed. I’m not stressed and even RSVP for events that I’m interested in attending this week and the following. Just one day away from Facebook and I’m already less antisocial and more productive.
I won’t say I will never go back to Facebook. However, I do want to learn how to cut the time on Facebook to 30 minutes or an hour per day or even better yet, a week. The same goes for every social media platform, I am a part of.♥
